Jonathan Keren, composer, arranger and violinist, is the Composer in Residence of the Fountain Chamber Music Society. He is currently pursuing composition studies at The Juilliard School, under the tutelage of Mr. Samuel Adler. Mr. Keren's works have been performed in Denmark, England, Germany, Spain, Korea, Japan, Russia; at the Louvre Museum in Paris; Washington Irving High School and The Juilliard School in NY; The Tel-Aviv Museum, Jerusalem Music Center and Henry Crown Hall, Jerusalem Theatre in his native Israel.
His music has been performed by such artists as Lynn Harrell, The Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, the Tel-Aviv Trio, The New Juilliard Ensemble, and Caprisma Ensemble. Last spring, the New Juilliard Ensemble commissioned and performed his Cello Concerto at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall , and recently he participated in the competition of ACL (Asian Composers League) for young composers in Tokyo, Japan.
Jonathan began as a violinist with Mr. Chaim Taub. He served three years in the Israeli Army as a member of the unit for outstanding musicians. During that time he arranged around 50 pieces for chamber and vocal ensembles, all of which were performed by military bands and the Israel Defense Force Education Corps Orchestra. Following his service he studied composition with Mr. Reuben Sarusi.
Mr. Keren was a teaching assistant in the ear-training department of The Juilliard School for two years. Since 1997, he is a recipient of scholarships from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation in violin and composition; and is a recipient of the Peter D.
